New Article by Dr. Lawrence B. Landman on Dynamic Competition and Innovation

We are pleased to share a recent contribution by our Of Counsel, Dr. Lawrence B. Landman, published in ProMarket, the publication of the Stigler Center for the Study of the Economy and the State at the The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

The article contributes to the ongoing debate on dynamic competition and innovation in merger control. Dr. Landman questions whether competition authorities can adequately analyze firms’ capabilities and use them to predict the products those firms may develop in the future. He argues that an analytically precise framework for protecting competition to innovate must instead begin by identifying the future products that the relevant firms are seeking to develop and determining whether those products may compete with one another.
